Discover Science & Maths Award

On the 29th of May, St Multose NS was awarded a certificate from the Science Foundation of Ireland. The certificate is to acknowledge excellence in the areas of Science and Maths. We, as a school, have placed a huge emphasis on Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths this year and have been rewarded for all our hard work. We took a whole school approach to this award, so every pupil from infants to sixth was involved in the entry. Well done to all the teachers and pupils!

ESB Science Blast!

On Thursday the 23rd of May, 5th and 6th class travelled to Mary Immaculate College in Limerick to present their project: ‘Can dog drool kill bacteria?’ in the annual ESB Science Blast Fair.

At 10am, two judges arrived and the 6th class pupils went into scientist mode! We were the first school of the day to be judged with one judge commenting, ”We were so excited to come and judge this project; it’s so unique”. 25 nervous minutes later, the judges were satisfied with the information and walked away both impressed and full of praise! They even came back a little later to take a photograph of our display and said they may steal our idea for use in another competition!

Throughout the day each group was able to attend talks and demonstrations. At 1:30 we eagerly awaited the return of the judges for their feedback session. We needn’t have worried so much. They were in awe of the content of our project and especially the presentation skills and knowledge of the pupils who presented it.

We are so proud of all the pupils. They worked together to make this an incredibly enjoyable experience and learned so many new skills. Their behaviour was impeccable all day and they represented our school with great pride.

A huge thank you to Martina Gallagher who accompanied us on the day and to all the parents who rose early to drop their children to the bus.

A wonderful day was rounded off with a well-earned trip to Supermacs!
