Hurray! We have just been awarded the 2021-2022 Pieta Amber Flag!  Our Amber Flag Committee has shown great commitment to promoting positive mental health in our school through ‘Friendship February’, ‘Thankful Thursdays’, ‘Pyjama Day’, yoga and mindfulness activities as well as many more enriching activities.  Huge congratulations to our wonderful Amber Flag team and thank you to all the pupils and parents who supported us during the year.  Well done!

 

As part of our renewal of the Amber Flag this year, we supported the work of Special Olympics Ireland and celebrated with them the importance of friendship in February.  Friendship February was a fun chance for our pupils to take part in two acts of friendship a day across one week while raising funds for Special Olympics Ireland.  We know how important it is to be nice to one another and we learned how important kindness and friendship are for the athletes of Special Olympics Ireland.  Through clubs and competitions, Special Olympics athletes make life-long friends, learn to include and support one another, help celebrate their successes and support each other through the tough times. We also showed an act of kindness towards the athletes by raising a total of €277 in aid of Special Olympics Ireland. Thank you, everyone!  This donation will go towards supporting children and adults with an intellectual disability across Ireland who are enjoying all the benefits of being part of a Special Olympics club, taking part in sports leagues, development days and healthy athlete programmes as well as so much more. 

 

The Pieta Amber Flag Initiative recognises the individual efforts of primary schools to create healthy, inclusive environments that support mental well-being.

By working together toward a happier, healthier Ireland and eradicate the stigmas associated with mental health issues.

In 2019 - 2020, we were awarded with our first Amber Flag.  This initiative was lead by Ms Nestor and the Amber Flag Committee. 

We held many fun events set up up by the team last year such as Friendship Week and a Valentines Day Cake Sale fundraiser for Pieta House.  Tracey Keoghan from 'The Lemon Leaf' judged the cake sale. The cakes were incredibly artistic, creative and extremely delicious!

We will be holding our Friendship Week from the 16th - 20th November. During that week, we will be hosting a 'Crazy Hair Day' fundraiser for Pieta House. We can't wait! We have lots of other fun ideas for Friendship Week lined up too!
