Curious Minds
(Yearly Application)

The goal of Curious Minds is to help establish our school as a leading educator in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths), creating a forward-focused learning environment for both teachers and pupils. Curious Minds is part of Science Foundation Ireland’s Education and Public Engagement Programme, which aims to increase interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) among pupils, teachers and members of the public. The programme originated as Discover Primary Science and Maths (DPSM) in 2003 to introduce primary school pupils to science in a practical, hands-on, enjoyable and interactive way. Since 2010, the programme has been run in conjunction with the European Space Education Resource Office (ESERO) Ireland, which uses space to inspire and engage young people in science and technology in the world around them.
At St Multose NS, we pride ourselves on the teaching of STEAM subjects and with the introduction of the new Primary Curriculum, this will allow further integration into our school day.
St Multose has achieved the Gold Standard for the past 6 years. The award recognises excellence in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. We, as a school, have placed a huge emphasis on these subjects and have been rewarded for all our hard work. Each year, we take a whole-school approach to achieving this award, so every pupil, from infants to sixth class, is involved in the entry.
